3-qualify24th Nov 2007 - Wasps Qualify for National Final

Wasp swimmers Robert Flack, Joe Evans and Bryony Archdeacon have qualified to represent the West Midlands at the National Schools Biathlon Final in Bath next February.

Both Robert and Joe came first in their age groups with Joe winning both the swim and the run. Robert won his run and came second in the swim. Bryony was 3rd in both the swim and the run and came third overall. [end]

rachel hares4th Nov 2007 - Rachel Hares Wins Gold at ASA Masters Championships

Rachel Hares stormed to victory in the breaststroke at the ASA Masters Championships at Sheffield last month. Against tough opposition she won both her age group and the national title in the 50m race with a time of 34.28 and won the 200m gold in her age group and was runner up overall in a stunning time of 2:45.07. She also competed in the 100IM where she was 4th and the 200IM where she was 5th. Well Done! [END]

Last Saturday the Wasps under 12s team beat both Newport and Madeley Court to win the Millenium Junior Relay Cup for the first ever time. Read more >>

Out of 32 individual events we won 25 and we were victorious in 12 out of 12 relays. We dominated proceedings from start to finish and left Chester’s A & B teams and Winsford for dust. Read more >>

At the recent AGM the Club announced that Charlotte Archdeacon and Philip Austin have been appointed as the respective girls and boys team captains. It was considered that both swimmers were best placed to inspire those around them with their ambition and "lead from the front" results. [END]

29th Jan 2007 - Wasps Achieve Swim 21 Accreditation

On the 29th January 2007 the Club received Silver Standard Swim 21 Accreditation at Skill Development Level. Commenting on this achievement the Regional Director of the ASA commented "This is a wonderful achievement and on behalf of the Region I would like to congratulate you for your efforts in attaining this accreditation. Clearly a great deal of hard work has gone into the process and this is reflected throughout your Evidence File". [end]

11th Jan 2007 - Charlotte Archdeacon Dominates Crystal Open Meet

At the Crystal Open Meet, leading Wasp Charlotte Archdeacon, won an amazing three first and two second places. In so doing she achieved three Midland District Qualifying Times in the 13/14 girls 100m Freestyle (1:05.57); the 200m Backstroke (2:33.36); and the 200m IM (2:36.11). [end]

20th July 2006 - Wasps Awarded Charitable Status

On the 20th July the Club received confirmation of having been granted Charitable Status by the Charity Commission. Charitable Status brings with it many benefits in terms of funding and we hope to be able to implement a number of changes to increase club resources and pool time over the next few months. [end]

5th May 2006 - Rachel Hares takes Silver & Bronze at Irish Nationals

Rachel Hares one of the Wasps most successful ever swimmers took the silver medal in the 50m and bronze in the 100m breaststroke at last weeks Irish National Championships. She also secured 4th place in the 200m breaststroke. Taking these successes in her stride she commented, "The times were just of my personal bests so the competition will have acted as a good starting point for my next training cycle". [end]

Alfie Pardoe, the youngest member of the Wasp team - aged 8 - achieved a fantastic 3rd place at last Sundays Chester Aquathlon in the Tri 1 category (9-10 years) despite giving away more than a year in age. Read More >>

10th Apr 2006 - Rachel Hares Takes 6th Place at British Championships

Ex Wasp Rachel Hares, now swimming for Loughborough University, came 6th in the final of the Women's 50m breastroke, at this years British Championships held at Sheffield on the 7th April. Her time of 33.78 was just outside her Personal Best. The race was won by Kirsty Balfour, fresh from taking Silver at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, in a time of 32.13. [end]
