Joe Evans is European Youth Champion

Whitchurch Wasps Swimmer Joe Evans has been crowned  European Youth Champion at the Modern Pentathlon Event held in Hungary this month.

Joe competed well in all events, coming joint second in the fencing and narrowly missing out on the top spot in the swimming by finishing the 200m race in 2:00.79 which was just 9 1/100ths of a second behind Andy Genard of France. Joe was 10th in combined event giving him an excellent total of 4556 which was 116 points clear of the Lithuanian competitor in second place.

In addition Joe’s performances put the boys team in second place overall and for the swimming relay. So it was a very impressive gold and 2 silvers that Joe brought to training this week before packing again to compete in the World Championships in Istanbul.

Congratulations to Joe for a fantastic result and good luck in Turkey!
