Wasps Take Schools Regional Title
Congratulations to four Wasps swimmers who won the Medley and Freestyle North West Schools Team Championships. Rachel Trent, Charlotte Archdeacon, Helen Duley and Emma Ewins who were representing Bishop Heber High School put in a tremendous performance to win both events at Friday’s competition at Everton Park Sports Centre in Liverpool.
Three of the four were the Intermediate Medley Champions two years ago – that time with team mate Jess Headdon. This year Emma Ewins was the new addition and the team were unbeatable in the senior category. Wasps Coach, Steve Archdeacon was very impressed with the girls’ swimming: “These swimmers have many other priorities and distractions as they go through Sixth Form and they have shown true commitment to still be turning up for training week in and week out. We as a Club are very proud of them and are delighted at their achievement”.
The girl’s times will be measured against the rest of the country and the 16 fastest teams will compete in the National Schools Team Championships next year.
They were not the only team in action. The following swimmers from Wasps and from Wrexham swimming club also put in fine performances for their school:
Junior Girls – Beth Jamieson, Ellie Minshull, Sophie Jones and Emma Jones.
Junior Boys – Brandon Hill, Charlie Lane, Tom Kitching and Michael Darlington
Intermediate Girls – Abi Fawcett, Amy Farr, Lydia Jamieson and Bryony Archdeacon
They all came up against some stiff competition and performed extremely well.
