Wasps Win Top Team

A fantastic Wasps team stormed to victory at the Shrewsbury Open Gala last weekend and were crowned top visiting club against 11 other teams. Not only that, Annabel Cook was declared top 12 year old girl, Philippa Lane won the top 9 year old girl title, and James Cook was top 12 year old boy despite pulling out of the afternoon’s events through illness.

Overall the team won 13 gold medals, 15 silvers and 9 bronzes. Josh Edge, Tom Bishop, Tom Penn and Hayden Ciesielski won their Medley relay and Tom, Hayden, Peter Towers and Tom won the Freestyle relay too. Melina, Amelia, Annabel and Beth came second in their Medley Relay and Beth, Bridie, Melina and Amelia came second in the Freestyle relay.

Overall it was a very successful day for the club. The medal winners were:

James Cook: Gold in 200m Backstroke, 200 IM, 50m Free and 50m Fly
Annabel Cook: Gold in 200m Fly; Silver in 50m and 200m Backstroke, 200m IM, 200m Breast stroke ; Bronze in 50m Breast stroke, 50m Fly and 200m Free
Philippa Lane: Gold in 50m and 200m Breast stroke; Silver in 200m Free
Amelia Penn: Gold in 50m and 200m Breast stroke and Silver in 50m Fly
Josh Edge: Gold in 50m Backstroke; Silver in 50m and 200m Free, 50m Fly
Ed Reid: Gold in 200m Free; Bronze in 50m Free
Sam Kitching: Silver in 50m Backstroke and Bronze in 50m Free
Thomas Bishop: Silver in 50m Breast stroke
Peter Towers: Silver in 200m Breastroke
Bridie Buckingham: Silver in 50m Free
Hayden Cliesielski: Silver in 50m Breast stroke
Thomas Penn: Bronze in 50m Fly
Lukas Edge: Bronze in 50m Backstroke
