Joe Evans Goes to World Championships
Whitchurch Wasps Swimmer Joe Evans has been selected to enter the Modern Pentathlon Invitational Schools Biathlon at the National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace this summer. The Biathlon has been arranged to coincide with the Modern Pentathlon World Championships at the same venue from 13-17 August and will give young talented athletes the opportunity to experience this premier competition first hand. With the exception of the Olympic Games, this is the most prestigious event in the sport of Modem Pentathlon and would certainly be the most important Modern Pentathlon event to take place during 2009.
Joe qualified for the event as a result of his continued success at Regional and National Biathlon Championships. Last October he won the Midlands Regional Qualifier with a clear 200 points and in March this year he was third in the National Championships. Whitchurch Wasps Head Coach Steve Archdeacon commented 'This is a great opportunity for Joe to experience a World Class competition and it is a great accolade for the club that he has been selected and we wish him the very best of luck.'
