Wasps win the Deva League
Well done to everyone who swam in the final round of the Deva League which secured our place as Division 2 Champions 2008. This is a fantastic achievement as we were only promoted into this Division at the end of last Season. In each round we have missed some of our key swimmers and everyone has put in a fantastic effort and achieved great results.
On Saturday we won 22 out of a total 46 events and that is without counting one of Charlotte Evans’ two wins in one event - the Open Freestyle.
There were a few swimmers who seemed to be swimming non-stop throughout the evening so a big thank you to Annabel and James Cook, Amelia and Thomas Penn and the 15 and under boys – Jamie, Joe and Callum who, at the end of the gala barely had time to catch their breath before they were swimming again.
Both Annabel and Amelia also won individual events in their own age group and in the age group above which is a great achievement.
We have some swimmers who are unbeaten in an event in all three rounds of the league. They are:
Ed Reid in the 11/under 50m Freestyle
James Cook in the 11/u 50m Backstroke and 50m Fly
Charlotte Archdeacon in the Open 100m Backstroke
The 13/under boys medley relay team which was: Thomas Bishop, Thomas Penn, Josh Edge, James Cook and Ed Reid
Saturday’s team was: Amelia Penn, Annabel Cook, Melina Athanassiu, Catherine Parsonage, Ed Reid, James Cook, Michael Darlington, Charlie Lane, Liam Roberts, Alice Tow, Amy Farr, Thomas Bishop, Thomas Penn, Josh Edge, Jessica Headdon, Rachel Trent, Ellie Reid, Bryony Archdeacon, Callum Trent, Joe Evans, Jamie Taylor, Charlotte Evans and Charlotte Archdeacon.
