Wasps do the Deva double …

If we thought winning the first Deva gala was a fluke, the swimmers proved us wrong with an even more impressive result on Saturday at Winsford. We were again hit by football injuries and gastric flu and were missing some of our best people but everyone put in a fantastic performance on the night to win the gala by 14 points.

With 19 first places and 179 points, there were many stars on Saturday night we have the space to mention only a few…

Well done to Rachel and Charlotte in the Open ladies who out-performed the opposition by winning all 5 of their individual races and then, helped by Lydia and Bryony swimming up, they also won the Medley Relay.

The 11 and under boys won 3 out of 4 individual events with James winning both the fly and the backstroke.  Lydia and Beth also achieved the double in their individual events – a fantastic result.

Thomas Penn showed his versatility this week by winning the 13/u backstroke and Jamie’s return to the team paid off with a win in the 15/u backstroke.

Ed remains unbeaten in the 11/u 50m free by winning again and Ellie pulled a stunning win out of the hat in the 15/u 50m fly. Team mate Bryony also won the 50m Breastroke.

It was a fantastic team effort with good results in the relays too. Well done to all those who took part.

Next week’s Deva gala has been postponed so please look on the notice board for the re-scheduled date. Our next gala is the National swimming league (used to be Speedo) on 11th October. The team sheet is on the notice board.
