Wasps season off to a flying start.

It was the kind of start to the season that most professional football managers can only dream of – you have just been promoted to the next division, you are missing some of your key players but against the odds your team pulls through to victory. This however was the reality for the Whitchurch Wasps team last Saturday who pulled out all the stops to gain a convincing win in the first Deva gala of the season.

Whilst everyone performed extremely well, there are a few people who deserve a special mention – the 13/u boys who won all their individual events and one of their relays and the 15/u girls who won 3 out of 4 individuals and one relay. As well as that there was a sterling effort from Thomas Penn who competed in 7 races, swimming up 2 age groups in one and still managing to win his own individual event. 13 year old Lydia Jamieson also rose to the challenge of the evening by coming second in the Open butterfly facing opposition from girls 16 and above.

In total there were 16 first places out of 46 events – a fantastic achievement and well done to everyone who took part.

The next gala is 27th September in Winsford.
