Whitchurch Wasp Wins Triple Crown

Whitchurch Wasps girls Captain, 15 year old Charlotte Archdeacon was confirmed as the Shropshire backstroke queen as she became the 50m  County Champion, adding to her 200m and 100m titles which she won earlier this year. She won her event in a new county record time of 32:59 at the Shropshire County Championships at Market Drayton last Sunday. If that was not enough she made it 5 gold medals out of 5 events in the 15yr age group and was awarded the top 15 year old girl over all the county competitions.

She was not the only medal winner from Whitchurch Wasps. Team mate Charlotte Evans, also 15, won 5 silvers in 5 events and Bryony Archdeacon, 13, won one silver and 4 bronzes in her age group. The boys performed well too with Jamie Taylor winning silver in the 50m backstroke in a personal best time of 32:06 and Callum Trent, 13, swam a stunning 50m Breastroke in a personal best time of 38.77 to take the silver medal.  Ellis Hickson came third in the 9 year old backstroke with a time of 46:89.

Club Chairman, Lindsey Reid was delighted with the day: “These are fantastic results – we won over 20 medals on Sunday with a small team and our swimmers achieved some fantastic individual goals. They work extremely hard and it is great to see that their efforts have paid off.”

The rest of the team who achieved many personal bests was made up of: Rachel Trent, Thomas Bishop, Michael Darlington, Hayden Ciesielski, Joshua Edge and Edward Reid.
