Shropshire County Championships – Day 3 & 4 Results

Over the weekend of the 10th & 11th March the Wasps continued to notch up their medal tally at the Shropshire County Swimming Championships.

Five Gold medals, 10 Silver medals, 13 Bronze medals, 43 Personal Bests, 15 Midland District Qualification times and one new Championship record - added to the already impressive tally attained from the first weekend of the Championships.

This compares to the 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 6 Bronze medals which were attained over the same mid weekend of last years Championships.

Further evidence that the Club is moving forwards in leaps and bounds, and is now producing some very exciting swimmers with bags of potential. No longer are our swimmers having to rely on winning the best hat or best behaviour competition – we’re winning in the pool!!!!!! Bring it on!

Joe Evans demonstrated his significant potential by notching up a double gold in the 12/over 100m & 200m Freestyle events.

Rachel Hares secured the gold in the Open Ladies 100m Breastroke and silver in  the 200m IM.

Alfie Pardoe won his second Gold medal of the championships in the 9/over 200m Backstroke in a new Club record time of 3:14.71. He also won the bronze medal in both the 200m & 400m Freestyle events.
Charlotte Archdeacon attained Gold in the 14/over 200m Backstroke in a superb new Championship record time of 2:28.03. This was in addition to 4 Silver medals.

Silver and bronze medals were won by Robert Flack, Nicki Lathum, Charlotte Evans, Charlotte Taylor, Jamie Taylor, Philip Austin and Abi Fawcett.

Other swimmers who whilst not winning medals did secure new Personal Bests were Bryony Archdeacon, Ben Williams, James Portch, Eleanor Reid, Elliot Hughes and Hayden Ciesielski.
Overall a good weekend and big congratulations are due to all those swimmers named above.
