Wasps 1 Challenge Changes

After much discussion and deliberation we have taken the decision to make a few alterations/clarifications & improvements to the Wasp 1 challenges. These will become effective with immediate effect.

Wasp 1 attainment will now become a requirement for all new Lane 5 swimmers. Previously it was needed for Lane 4. The main benefit of this will be that more focus will be put on shallow dives and turns within the Stroke Clinic/tadpoles. Existing Lane 5 swimmers will have until July 1st 2007 to attain Wasp 1.

The 100m Freestyle in 2.15 requirement of Wasp 1 will now change to 200m in 3.55.

The 1000m swim has now been clarified to read a 1000m continuous swim in 23 minutes or less.
All those swimmers who have already attained all or part of Wasp 1 under the old criteria will be exempt from having to be re-tested under the new criteria.

See the Wasp Pool Training section for full details of Wasp 1 criteria.
