Closed Club Championships - Day 5 - The Final Day

On Thursday 18th May Whitchurch Pool witnessed the final episode of our 2006 Club championships. This was to be an evening of Fly – including the 50m, 100m & 200m events.

The Club has recently started more of a concerted effort to promote Fly and those of us gathered at poolside were keen to witness the results of this concentrated effort. We were not to be disappointed. Over the course of the three events an amazing 3 New Club Records and 39 Personal Bests were set.

The first of these New Club records fell to the ever impressive Charlotte Evans who in taking the Girls 13/u 100m Gold recorded a time of 1:20.30.

Next up was the dual of the night between James Park and Robert Flack in the 100m Mens Open. Robert got off to a good start and was leading at the halfway mark but James had clearly held back a reserve of energy and captured the Gold medal in a New Club Record time of 1:07.67.

To finish an excellent evening off – James Portch then dominated the Boys 11/u 50m fly in another New Club Record time of 41.76.

The other Gold medals were won by Clarrie Hocknell, Laura Bull, Lucy Okell, Abi Fawcett, Kitty Aberton, Jamie Crawford, Jack Machin, Joe Evans, Josh Edge and Alfie Pardoe.
