Northgate Diddy Gala - Squad Sheet Released
On Saturday June 10th we’re competing in the Northgate Diddy gala. A number of you have asked why it is called a “diddy” gala and I can only assume that the term was first coined by someone brought up watching a 70s television show which involved Ken Dodd and the Diddy men. From my recollection the Diddy men were little people. So all in all rather insulting on those of you small in size but BIG on enthusiasm and talent. You are the future!
The gala will take place at Bridgnorth Leisure Centre with the warm up commencing at 5.30pm. A team coach (complete with poz music!) will depart from Whitchurch at around 4.15pm (more details to follow) and will arrive back at around 10pm. The pool is 4 lanes of 25m and the gala will consist of 9/u, 10/u, 11/u, & 12/u age groupings. These groupings will be assessed by age on day (ie June 10th).
It’s crucial that we put out our strongest team – I know that many of you have progressed enormously over the last few months – and this is an opportunity to show everyone that we mean business. I’ve compiled an initial squad of swimmers from which the team will be selected. A bit like Theo Walcott being called in unexpectedly into the England squad – I’ve tried to include a few new faces – there is now real competition for places.
Can you please indicate on the squad sheet on the club notice board at Whitchurch Pool or email me at jonpardoe@hotmail.co.uk to let me know whether you are available.
Guys – we’re going to win! We’re going to saviour the unbeatable feeling of winning and being part of a winning team. Winning…it’s a Wasp thing!
