Wasps Invade Wrexham - Day 2 of 2006 Club Championships
Wrexham Leisure Centre was the venue for day 2 of this year’s club championships, which witnessed 2 new club records and an incredible 126 personal bests.
In the 200m backstroke gold medals went to Robert Flack, Philip Austin, Jack Machin, Jamie Taylor, James Portch, Joshua Edge, Charlotte Archdeacon, Laura Bull, Bryony Archdeacon, Abi Fawcett and Eliot Hughes.
In the 50m backstroke a new club record went to Thomas Draper in the boys 11/u in a time of 40.60. This was 0.2 seconds faster than the previous record which had been held by Jonathan Terry since 1992. Aside from Thomas Draper gold medals in this event were also won by Laura Bull, Bryony Archdeacon, Abi Fawcett, Amelia Penn, Joe Evans, Joshua Edge and Eliot Hughes.
In the 100m breastroke Charlotte Archdeacon won gold in the girls 13/u in a new club record time of 1:25.10, which was nearly 2 seconds faster than the previous record set by Charlotte Grandfield back in 2001. Gold medals in this event also went to Robert Flack, Jamie Crawford and Jack Machin.
Next up was the 200m breastroke which saw gold medals being won by Robert Flack, Jamie Crawford, Jack Machin, Jamie Taylor, Thomas Draper, Thomas Bishop, Alfie Pardoe, Charlotte Archdeacon, Laura Bull, Bryony Archdeacon, Abi Fawcett and Amelia Penn.
In the 100m backstroke gold medals were won by Charlotte Archdeacon, Robert Flack, Philip Austin and Jack Machin.
In the final event of day 2 of this years championships – the 50m breastroke – golds went to Yanina Morris, Nicki Latham, Abi Fawcett, Amelia Penn, Joe Evans, Thomas Draper, Joshua Edge and Patrick Draper.
