Alfie "Shoes on the wrong feet" Pardoe takes 3rd place at Chester Aquathlon

Alfie Pardoe, the youngest member of the Wasp team - aged 8 - achieved a fantastic 3rd place at last Sundays Chester Aquathlon in the Tri 1 category (9-10 years) despite giving away more than a year in age.

The Chester Aquathlon is part of the British Triathlon North West Children's & Youth Series and this was Alfie's first ever attempt at an Aquathlon. The event was held at Christleton and consisted of a 150m swim, followed immediately by a 1700m run. Alfie was 4th out of the pool, but despite running the entire race with his trainers on the wrong feet managed to capture 3rd position by 8 seconds in a time of 11.32. Asked at what point he realised his shoes were on the wrong feet he replied "As soon as I had put them on I looked down and thought oh!!!!...but I haven't got time to change them".

Alfie insisted on wearing his oversized Wasp Tea-bag shirt for the race as he wanted to promote the club. He’s now looking forward to his next Aquathlon.
