Wasps team up with 5 times Olympic Gold Medallist

The Wasps are pleased to announce that they have teamed up with Olympic Swimming Gold Medallist Gary Hall Jr – to provide coaching this Autumn for some of their most promising swimmers. Gary Hall Jr is the holder of 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze Olympic medals as well has being histories fastest swimmer in organised competition worldwide.

A small but elite squad of Whitchurch swimmers will be attending a one week training camp in the autumn half-term at Islamorada in Florida.  During the week they will be trained by Gary Hall Jr and the Race Clubs world team coaches Andy Diechert and John Olsen. John Olsen is the holder of 5 Olympic swimming medals and is now regarded as one of the top swimming coaches in the world.

The swimming training camp will include Dartfish video analysis of the Whitchurch Wasps swimmers individual strokes compared to those of some of the greatest swimmers in the world

Steve Archdeacon, Chairman of the Whitchurch Wasps, says “It’s an opportunity of a lifetime for some of our swimmers and a clear signal of our intent to become one of the country’s leading swimming clubs.  We wish to play a major part in contributing swimmers to the 2012 London Olympics”.
