February 2006

jamie-taylorThe February 2006 Swimmer of the Month has been awarded to Jamie Taylor – fresh from having won Gold at the Shropshire Counties in the 1500m Freestyle. This award is given each month to the swimmer who in the eyes of all of the coaching staff has shown the most improvement.

Watching Jamie win the Gold Medal Jean Taylor, our head coach, said “…he swam it so well with amazing pacing it brought a lump to my throat. Before the race he told me how he was going to swim it and he did it just as he said with the pacing spot on”.

His victory was even the more remarkable since he had started to suffer cramp half way through the race and had experienced trouble seeing through steamed up goggles for the turns He hadn’t wanted to adjust them in case he lost time. There’s the sign of a true winner. No gain without pain - Well done Jamie.
